These are samples of student work completed under my direction as an Instructor of Graphic Design Technology at the University of North Dakota.
My Role: Design Educator
I have been involved with the field of education for the majority of my career. I have worked extensively in distance learning, as a learning architect, student, and instructor. Most recently, I took my teaching on-site at the University of North Dakota where I taught Graphic Design Software & Technologies I & II, Web Design, User Interface Design, and Multimedia Production.
My goal as an educator is to create problem-based experiential learning opportunities for my students. Lecture only takes up the bare minimum of time in my classroom. I teach in an active manner, getting the students sketching, working, engaging in small group discussions, and asking questions as soon as practical for each project. Process is very important in the field of design, so my students spend a large amount of time brainstorming, sketching, interating, and prototyping.
